Adrift In The Atlantic – Lewis & Harris

This series of photographs traces a journey across Lewis and Harris, where the weather shifted with every breath of wind. Skies darkened and opened in quick succession, light and shadow dancing across the sea. The air carried the restless voice of the Atlantic, waves breaking with a force that seemed endless.

On the wide sands of Harris the water turned from steel grey to turquoise in an instant, the beaches empty but for the wind’s patterns. Wildlife moved quietly through it all - Oystercatchers skimming the surface of the water and seals rising above the waves.

At the Butt of Lewis the lighthouse kept watch over a coastline carved by wind and sea. Cliffs fell steeply to waves that hurled themselves against the rock, spray lifting high into the air before dissolving into nothing - was a place that spoke of endurance.

This post will continue to grow, with fresh photographs added in the weeks to come.
